I read your page on flushing an individual channel. I am using the Matt black(MK) and want to switch to glossy Black(PK), so I open the calibration mode in quad tone rip, do I pick the Flushing file marked K? That works for both black inks? I should manually do the ink change on the printer and then print this file. Since I’m replacing one black ink with another I should print on a glossy or luster finish paper. I’m guessing that’s the only way I will be able to see the difference? I’m using an Epson 3800. How many sheets of 8.5 x 11 do you think this will take?
The 3800 has PK and MK auto-switching. (it has 9 ink cartridges). Just go to the maintenance menu and switch from MK to PK at will. This uses only a tiny amount of ink right behind the print-head nozzles to switch between MK and PK and back.
