Scanning RGB vs B+W

Good morning

I’m currently scanning all film in RGB and converting to B+W using a layer in photoshop. Using last version of Flexcolor.

What is your tried and tested technique for scanning both B+W film for piezo pro printing?

Scan everything as .fff (3F) in flex color. Change file name to .tif and open direct in photoshop. Invert, bw layer, then curves.
