I recently removed my carts after their initial fill of Pro inks and some printing, my intention was to add ink if necessary. I have a sense of how much ink remains by shaking the carts but they are now pretty much opaque with ink color. I’m wondering how to judge ink levels as I understand a certain amount of space needs to remain at the top. I have an accurate scale, has anyone weighted their carts to judge ink levels?
I have been using an Amazon Basics Kitchen scale purchased January 2023 for 12.59. Never leaves the studio. Never a problem. Weigh the empty cartridge, then the full ones, keep a record. I find it helps to keep the ink off with a paper towel or the plastic bag from the ink bottles or something similar I prefer not to rely on eyeball estimates. Good luck!
Thanks for the feedback. I do have a good scale, no empty carts to weigh though, and no full carts to compare to. If I had anticipated the visual measurement problem before setting up my carts, I’d be in better shape now. And yes, the eyeball method isn’t going to work for me, thanks.
GPT or Google AI can give you the cartridge weight empty and the amount they hold in mg which is equivalent to ml. Might help for your specific model.

Just an FYI, I went to Chat for some weight answers. “It’ said empty carts would weigh about 100 to 110 grams. Ink is about 1 gram per ml so a cart with 70 mls of ink should be about 175 grams. I did weigh one of mine with a considerable amount of ink inside at 109 grams. I’m not sure Chat has a handle on this. Does anyone have an empty InkjetMall cart they can weigh for the 3880?
53gsm is the weight of an empty refill cart for the 3800 / 3880 / P800
