Mike Ware’s New Cyanotype applied on Bergger COT 320 paper on the smooth side with a brush (Kobayashi 2”).
Room +/-70% and 19,5 °C.
Drying by laying flat and (room)air the coated paper during at least one hour.
About 4 micro-liter for 1 square cm (or 1,600 ml for the coated surface +/- 414 square cm).
After the drying time I’ve noticed very small ‘crystals’ on the surface. Not ‘in’ the paper.
In my feeling this is not what it should be.
I’ve the impression that when the sensitiser was made (I’ve purchased the 100 ml bottle) it was not well filtered?
For information - I did’n shake the bottle and didn’t went to the bottom with the pipet.
Have you asked your supplier about this chemistry and your results?
I think that you should ask the company that supplied you with this chemistry… if you have and did not receive a satisfactory answer or they are unable to answer, I suggest you ask Mike Ware who is active on Facebook.
Hi
Decant the solution into a clear container, then look inside it for any crystals. If this is significant, pour liquid back into bottle, and warming in a water bath at about 40C with gentle stirring for 5-10 minutes.
This may also be a problem with the paper - try giving the sheet a two to three hour pre-coat hydration in arounf 20C at greater than 60% RH. Then coat.
Good luck!
