Missing saved workflows for i1Profiler

I don’t have any saved workflows for printing/measuring targets. I am unable to load any workflows even if I rename the .pwxf to .pxf. I have previously been able to use a 256 target workflow, but after an OS update to 26 and a reinstall of i1Profiler there are now no saved workflows.

Any help is much appreciated.

Ben.

Hi Ben,

Have you tried reinstalling PPETv2 for the workflows?

Hi Rachel,

Yes I did.

Currently, x-Rite has not confirmed compatibility for Tahoe, and frankly, they likely won’t. Since the acquisition, i1 Profiler is effectively a legacy system. Support for the i1 systems has largely transitioned to CalBrite. I recommend reaching out to X-Rite and then CalBrite to see if either have a specific patch or beta driver for Tahoe. They may not because they are trying to replace x-Rite products with CalBrite products.

Try a library check. Recent macOS versions often struggle with how x-Rite installers handle directory permissions and naming. If the software isn’t loading, it might be due to redundant directories. Navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/X-Rite/i1 Profiler/ColorSpace RGB. Search for folders with suffixes or slight name variations that look like “backup” or “old” versions. The installer sometimes renames folders to prevent overwriting, which then stops the software from finding the active workflow. Ensure your Piezo workflows are correctly located in the PrinterProfileWorkflows directory.

If you continue to hit a dead end, many professional studios (including Cone Editions) have moved away from printing directly from the latest macOS. Apple’s recent changes to Color Management (CM) often interfere with non-Apple workflows like Piezography.

Pick up an inexpensive Mac Mini (pre-Ventura/Monterey) from eBay for around $50. Keep your main imaging station on Tahoe, but hang your i1 and your printer off the older Mac. Network the two machines so you can drop files to the “print server” or use Screen Sharing and you won’t need a display on the mini. While i1 version 3.8.4 is known to run on Ventura, Ventura introduced its own issues with printing such as settings recall. Do this and you will never have to worry about anything again. Cone Editions prepared a document on how to share a Mac mini server through screen sharing so you can image on Tahoe and print through the server by screen sharing on Tahoe. Let me know if you want this doc.

Hi Ben,

Were you able to reinstall or recover the target files for i1 Profiler?

Rachel

Hi Rachel,

I was able to resolve the issue by reinstalling the software.

Thank you.

Ben

Ben, which software did you reinstall? I1Profiler (which version?) or PPE Tools v.2.2.2?

thanks.

Michael

Hi Michael,
I reinstalled both programs. For i1Profiler (latest version) I first did a deep uninstall and a reboot.

I don’t understand how the workflows function. I managed to hack one to some extent and got the result I was seeking, but it isn’t at all clear how they work.
