How much curve measurement smoothing should I use?

I’m wondering how much measurement smoothing should be used and what effect it has on actual real-world prints? Being new to the linearization process I have no experience interpreting these graphs in relation to actual prints. I have attached screen shots of a single measurement with different amounts of measurement smoothing. Of these examples, what would be considered the best balance of smoothing vs output?

I am in the process of linearizing for several different papers and it’s not practical for me to make actual prints for each and every paper to evaluate the results of the linearization process.

TIA for any insight.

HI Guy,
The 70/20 top image you posted is where you would want to be. Would you be able to see the differences between them? Probably very minor… But I would go with 70/20
Jon

Okay, thank you very much. Why would one use a lower amount of smoothing? i.e. - Is there any down side to high smoothing values?

Thanks again Jon!

I’ve not really come against a media profile that benefited by less smoothing, but we have the option in it to adjust. We could have just as well standardized it.
